How to keep your data secure, or share it with the community
There's a wealth of airport and tax costing information out there. Here is how to turn it into a queryable model.
AviPrice was built to turn disparate sources of data on aviation fess and taxes into a queryable model.
The first step in this process is to source your data. A lot of it is freely avaliable to the public - if you know where to look.
If you've got anything to add to this page, drop us a line. We'll be very glad to hear of any improvements.
We find '[IATA-CODE] Schedule of Charges' to be a good place to start. So for Birmingham Aiport (in the UK), try 'BHX Schedule of Charges'.
For us, at the time of writing that brings us to the Fees & Charges page of the airport. From there we are able to download their PDF file of the charges they leavy.
Page 1
In this example, page 3 handily sets out the various fees charged by BHX. Actual charge information starts from page 4.
BHX's charges are quite straight forward. Taking Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) on page 4 as an example it states:
The charge is based upon the cost of providing assistance to arriving and departing passengers (including transits) with reduced mobility and is made on a departing passenger (including transits) basis at £1.17 per passenger.
This is a very simple charge. There's no logic, the PRM fee is just levied at a flat rate. Consequently the cost layer is very simple too.
Hopefully this has given you a starter on sourcing data for your cost layers. Next step, building your first layer.
